The 33-year-old adds over 12,000 minutes of USL experience to Owls’ backline
PAPILLION, Neb. (January 30, 2024) – Union Omaha announced today the signing of Mechack Jérôme pending league and federation approval. The veteran defender joins from USL Championship’s Indy Eleven and brings his experience from years in NASL, USL, MLS and at national team level with Haiti.

Having made 80 appearances for his country, Jérôme currently ranks as the second-most capped Haitian player in history – his international career began in 2008. The defender has made his home at USL Championship level since 2019, playing over 4,000 minutes for El Paso Locomotive FC and Indy Eleven, respectively. In three of the last four USL Championship seasons, Jérôme has been a mainstay of defenses which have finished with the fewest or second-fewest goals conceded in their respective conferences.
Jérôme’s professional career began in 2006 for Haitian club Baltimore SC. He moved to Mirandela in Portugal before returning to the United States, where he spent time in the Orlando City SC, DC United and Montreal Impact organizations. Jérôme appeared 10 times and scored once for Sporting Kansas City in its 2013 MLS-Cup-winning campaign. He also made 66 appearances in NASL with Jacksonville Armada FC from 2015-2017.
“Mechack is an experienced player that has 80 caps for his country, and when watching him play, it’s easy to see why – his ability speaks for itself,” said Union Omaha Head Coach Dominic Casciato. “I worked closely with him in El Paso when we won the Mountain Division and Copa Tejas back in 2021, so I’m delighted to be able to bring him to Omaha this season. His defensive prowess and quality in possession will make him a great asset as we look to achieve success in 2024.”
“I’m excited to say that I’m officially part of the Union Omaha family,” said Jérôme. “This is going to be an amazing season and I can’t wait for what’s to come!”
