UNO’s all-time leading goalscorer signs with Owls after scoring in international friendly
OMAHA, Nebr. (September 11, 2026) – Union Omaha has signed midfielder Theo Klein, pending league and federation approval. Klein had been on trial with the club after a decorated college career at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and will now step up to the Owls after establishing himself in the Omaha soccer community.
Theo Klein is the UNO Mavericks’ all-time leading goalscorer in the Division 1 era, with 23 goals over four seasons. He was an All-Summit League First Team member in 2023, and made Second Team the year after. Klein competed for the Laotian U-22 National Team at the Southeast Asian Games in 2023, and has since played twice for Laos’ senior team. While training with Union Omaha this season, Klein also scored a goal in the Owls’ first-ever international friendly against FC Juárez.
“Theo has been working hard for months and earned his place on this team,” said Head Coach Vincenzo Candela. “We are excited for him to bring his quality and professionalism to our group!”
Klein hails from Strasbourg, France, and began his footballing journey in the academy of Ligue 1’s RC Strasbourg Alsace. After a stint in French semi-professional football, Klein came stateside to Central Methodist University in the NAIA. He notched ten goals and six assists in the 2021 season, providing a springboard for his transfer to UNO.
