TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One announced on Monday the Team of the Week Presented by Cleer Audio for Week 13 of the 2021 regular season, with Richmond Kickers forward Emiliano Terzaghi named Player of the Week after recording two goals and an assist in his side’s 3-2 comeback win against North Texas SC on Saturday.
The Argentine attacker leveled the game twice with goals in both the first and second halves. The former was a fantastic, inventive heel flick, and the latter a clinical take from the penalty spot. Terzaghi then set up teammate Jonathan Bolanos for the game-winning goal, helping the Kickers pick up a valuable three points.
Greenville Triumph SC’s dominant 3-0 win against the New England Revolution II sees the team lead all clubs with three players represented in this week’s team.
GK – Caleb Patterson-Sewell, Toronto FC II: The veteran goalkeeper was spectacular for TFC II in its Wednesday away win against South Georgia Tormenta FC, making eight saves to preserve the result for his side.
D – Christian Diaz, Forward Madison FC: Diaz was everywhere for Madison on Wednesday night, contributing at both ends of the pitch in the Flamingos’ 1-0 win against New England. He created three chances, made three tackles, won 10 duels and was fouled three times – all game-highs.
D – Damia Viader, Union Omaha: The Spaniard continued his strong season on Saturday night, putting in a shift as Omaha ended the game with 10 men in a 1-1 draw with Chattanooga. He led all players in the match in duels won (12), dribbles completed (six), and tackles made (three).
D – Abdi Mohamed, Greenville Triumph SC: Mohamed’s excellent through ball set up Marios Lomis for the opening goal in Greenville’s 3-0 away win against New England on Sunday. The fullback also made six clearances, won four duels, and created two chances to go along with two tackles.
M – Charlie Dennis, FC Tucson: Dennis assisted Tucson’s game-winning goal against Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, just one of six chances in total he created. He also led all players in the match with 10 duels won, drew five fouls, and passed at a 95 percent success rate.
M – Aaron Walker, Greenville Triumph SC: Walker created three chances in Greenville’s win against New England, one of which turned into an assist when Lomis finished it off in style. The midfielder also won seven duels, made two tackles, and recorded six recoveries.
M – Noble Okello, Toronto FC II: In addition to scoring the opening goal of TFC II’s win over Tormenta last Wednesday from the penalty spot, the Canadian international led all players in the match with four completed tackles and won six duels to boot.
M – Manuel Ferriol, FC Tucson: Ferriol made a massive impact as a late substitute in Tucson’s win against Fort Lauderdale. He scored the game-winning goal in spectacular fashion from the edge of the area just moments after entering the game, and completed 100 percent of his passes in the closing stages while also winning 3 of his 4 duels.
F – Emiliano Terzaghi, Richmond Kickers: On top of his contributions to all three of his team’s goals in a narrow win, Terzaghi led all players in Richmond’s victory over North Texas with five total chances created.
F – Marios Lomis, Greenville Triumph SC: Lomis scored a terrific hat trick to lift Greenville to a momentum-building 3-0 win over New England on Sunday, making him the first player in League One this season to reach double-digit goals. His tally of 11 sees him atop the Golden Boot race.
F – Mark Hernandez, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: In a season where Chattanooga has seemed to score late in every one of its matches, it was Hernandez’s turn to play the hero on Saturday. His equalizer in second-half stoppage time picked up what could be an all-important road point for the Red Wolves come the end of the season.
PAPILLION, Neb. – A scrappy affair at Werner Park saw Union Omaha leave the pitch with fewer men than Chattanooga Red Wolves, but the same number of goals.
A record Union Omaha crowd of 3,880 watched the Owls secure a point before taking in an independence Day fireworks display.
A first half marked by physicality gave way to a knock-down-drag-out fight in the second for Los Búhos to cling to their advantage.
They were granted that lead by way of a well-worked goal finished by former Red Wolf Greg Hurst. However, the match turned when JP Scearce was sent off early in the second half. Omaha went into survival mode for the remainder of the match, but surrendered a 91st-minute equalizer after a game of pinball in front of their net to cede a point to Chattanooga.
“Our guys are exhausted right now, but I couldn’t be happier for the guys,” said Head Coach Jay Mims afterwards. “They grinded, they showed grit. Just amazing, the performance they put on.”
The match started with a shot on goal within 15 seconds, but the ensuing play was marked by intense pressing and short spells of possession. The most notable moment in the early goings came when a Juan Galindrez shot deflected off Connor Doyle and shook the crossbar.
Greg Hurst then came back to haunt his old club in the 36th minute. The lead up was made by Damià Viader, whose industriousness down the left flank led to a wide-open crossing opportunity for Ferrety Sousa. Tim Trilk, making his season debut for the Red Wolves in goal, punched it clear for a corner. On the ensuing routine, Viader floated an in-swinging ball to the far post. JP Scearce nodded it back across the face of goal, and Hurst tucked it into the corner off the volley.
Scearce’s night ended 55 minutes in following an incident in his own penalty box that saw Chattanooga’s Jason Ramos hit the deck. From there, Chattanooga wrested control of the match. They threatened off a similar-looking routine to the Owls’ goal, with Mark Hernandez firing a rope through traffic that clattered off the far post and away. Not to be outdone, Viader immediately shook the post himself with a long-distance laser. In all, a punishing match for both teams was punishing for the equipment as well, with five shots in total hitting the woodwork.
Mims was impressed with his team’s efforts through the entire match. “You know, Chattanooga’s a team that prides itself on possession and you could see tonight that they came here and didn’t have any business wanting to do that,” he said, backing his league-leading defense.
Rashid Nuhu was injured after a scramble to close down Blake Frischknecht, who was in on goal after a whipped-in ball from the left. The resulting delay to look after him helped lead to a nervy finish with five minutes of stoppage time, with last-minute mayhem in the final moments to fray the nerves of everyone watching.
Ultimately, the valiant efforts of Omaha defenders to stave off the Red Wolves’ assault ended in late heartbreak, though Mims was optimistic about the outcome. “It obviously feels disheartening right now — feels like a loss, but once we have a couple days to think about it, it’s a great result, playing a man down the whole second half.”
A point tonight keeps them undefeated at Werner Park this season. Their record in front of the Parliament now stands at 3-0-1.
Union Omaha will have a week to recover from this slugfest before finishing their three-match home stand by hosting Forward Madison FC on Friday, July 16 at 8:00 p.m. CT.

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One announced on Monday the Team of the Week Presented by Cleer Audio for Week 12 of the 2021 regular season, with North Carolina FC midfielder Jay Tee Kamara named Player of the Week after recording a goal and an assist in the second half of his side’s 2-1 comeback win against the Richmond Kickers on Friday.
With his team trailing by a goal coming out of halftime, the 19-year-old – on loan from the USL Championship’s Louisville City FC – took control of the game. Two minutes into the second half, Kamara whipped in an excellent free kick, which teammate Max Flick headed in for the equalizer. Nine minutes later, Kamara produced a bit of magic to give NCFC the lead, juking his defender to create space before firing an accurate low strike from 20 yards out which snuck inside the post. The performance was key to North Carolina FC picking up its first win as a member of League One.
The New England Revolution II’s dominant 3-0 win over North Texas SC sees the team lead all clubs with three players represented in this week’s team.
GK – Dylan Castanheira, Fort Lauderdale CF: Castanheira made eight saves on Saturday night, providing the platform for his side to claim a 2-1 victory against Toronto FC II courtesy of a late Mitchell Curry goal.
D – Max Flick, North Carolina FC: In addition to scoring NCFC’s equalizer in its 2-1 win over the Richmond Kickers (his second goal in as many games), Flick led all players in the match in both passes completed (81) and duels won (seven).
D – Luke Singh, Toronto FC II: Singh’s brilliant free kick opened the scoring in Toronto FC II’s 3-1 win over South Georgia Tormenta FC last Wednesday. Like Flick, Singh led all players in the match in passes completed (55) and duels won (eight).
D – Jiro Barriga Toyama, Forward Madison FC: Though Madison took home just one point from its trip to Greenville, Toyama put up a gaudy stat line for the Flamingos. His fantastic bit of skill earned Madison a penalty kick early in the match, and he put up big numbers in a variety of categories. His tallies of duels won (15), successful tackles (four), fouls drawn (three), and dribbles completed (three) were all game highs.
D – Ryan Spaulding, New England Revolution II: For the second straight week, Spaulding earns a spot on the Team of the Week for contributing at both ends of the pitch. He scored the second goal in New England’s 3-0 win over North Texas in some style, curling a strike to the far post with his right foot. He also chipped in to the clean sheet effort, winning five duels and making seven recoveries to go with three clearances.
M – Jay Tee Kamara, North Carolina FC: In addition to his terrific goal and assist, Kamara led all players in the match against Richmond with three chances created and made two successful tackles.
M – Aaron Molloy, Forward Madison FC: Molloy recorded both of Madison’s goals in its 2-2 draw with Greenville, the first from the penalty spot and the second with a thunderous first-time strike from the edge of the area. The Irishman also completed a game-high 57 passes at an 86 percent success rate.
M – Jake Rozhansky, New England Revolution II: Rozhansky continues to be the engine in the midfield for this Revolution II side. In Saturday’s win, he completed an incredible 79 of his 83 passing attempts – 60 of which were in the opposition half. He also notched a game-high three chances created.
F – Jayden Nelson, Toronto FC II: Another player making his second consecutive Team of the Week appearance, Nelson scored twice in the final 25 minutes of Toronto FC II’s Wednesday win over Tormenta FC.
F – Greg Hurst, Union Omaha: Hurst started and finished the excellent move which produced the only goal in Omaha’s 1-0 win over FC Tucson on Saturday night. The Scottish striker did well to release Ferrety Sousa down the right flank, then moved smartly in the box to get on the end of Sousa’s quality cross.
F – Damian Rivera, New England Revolution II: Rivera was a terror when running at the North Texas defense. He converted a penalty kick to get on the scoresheet, as well as completing three dribbles, winning nine duels, and drawing three fouls.
PAPILLION, Neb. – The 2021 season has been one of unfinished business for Union Omaha since before it even began. With another home win on Saturday night against FC Tucson and nearly a month at the top of USL League One, the team is on course to reach its lofty goals.
When forward Greg Hurst headed home a Ferrety Sousa cross with only six minutes on the clock, Werner Park erupted. Hurst’s last three home matches have seen rack up five goals – a deadly record if it continues.
The comforts of home will undoubtedly continue for the Owls – four of the next five matches will be played at Werner Park, including an important one against in-form Chattanooga Red Wolves on Friday, July 3.
“It was nice being back at home again,” said Head Coach Jay Mims. “I know our guys are excited about getting a lot more games at home coming up.”
The team’s all-around game sets the stage well for the big occasions to come. The best defensive record in the league belongs to Union Omaha; the back line that has conceded only seven goals this season is a massive part of the collective’s current standing.
“It’s good to get a zero on the board for a shutout,” said Coach Mims. “We’ve been working on a lot of defensive shape stuff and I was really proud of Daltyn, Jake, [Ferrety] Sousa and Damià – it was a great performance.”
The assist provided by defender Ferrety Sousa was his second goal involvement in as many matches after one of his crosses found the net against Richmond Kickers last weekend. Decisive fullback play in the attacking half has been a theme throughout the campaign for Los Búhos. Viader and Sousa are first and third on the team, respectively, in terms of chances created.
FC Tucson came close to scoring a handful of times, creating nearly the same number of chances as Omaha. Near-misses and one important save by Owls goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu kept the visiting team scoreless for its second successive outing. Forward Deri Corfe missed the net and a diving Nuhu by a foot or less with the last kick of the match.
Tucson remained in 11th place with a 2W, 4L, 3D record in league play.
Union Omaha will welcome Chattanooga Red Wolves to Werner Park on Friday, July 3 at 7 p.m. CT. Last season’s only meeting between the two teams ended in a 2-0 win for Chattanooga, a defeat the Owls will be looking to avenge next week.

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One announced on Monday the Team of the Week Presented by Cleer Audio for Week 11 of the 2021 regular season, with Chattanooga Red Wolves SC forward Juan Galindrez named Player of the Week after scoring two late goals off the bench in his side’s dramatic 3-2 win against North Carolina FC on Sunday.
Entering in the 51st minute with his team trailing 1-0, the introduction of Galindrez completely changed the game for Chattanooga. The Colombian forward was a constant threat throughout his time on the pitch, hitting the woodwork once and nearly scoring with an inventive bicycle kick attempt. He eventually got the equalizer with a clever chipped shot in the 74th minute, then popped up again in the 88th minute to give Chattanooga the lead.
The two goals were his third and fourth of the season as a substitute, all of which have come in the 74th minute or later.
South Georgia Tormenta FC’s 3-1 win over Greenville Triumph SC sees three of its players represented in Week 11’s Team of the Week, leading all clubs for the second consecutive week.
GK – Wallis Lapsley, FC Tucson: Lapsley kept a five-save shutout on the road against North Texas SC. His penalty kick stop just before halftime proved vital to preserving a road point for Tucson.
D – Ferrety Sousa, Union Omaha: Sousa scored Omaha’s only goal of its 1-1 draw away to the Richmond Kickers. The right back also passed at an 85 percent success rate, won four duels and completed four dribbles.
D – Ryan Spaulding, New England Revolution II: Spaulding did a little bit of everything to help New England to a shutout win away to Forward Madison on Saturday. The fullback made six recoveries, won five duels, and made four clearances to go with two successful tackles.
D – Lars Eckenrode, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Eckenrode scored Tormenta’s opening goal with a quality header as the team beat Greenville for its fourth consecutive win on Saturday. The center back also won five duels and passed at an 89 percent success rate.
M – Luca Mayr, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Mayr assisted South Georgia’s first two goals with top-notch deliveries against Greenville, and created six chances in total. He contributed in defense too, making three interceptions and three clearances.
M – Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, Toronto FC II: Marshall-Rutty was superb in TFC II’s 2-1 win against Fort Lauderdale on Sunday. He scored one goal himself and assisted another as the Young Reds overturned an early deficit, and passed at a 90 percent success rate.
M – Marco Micaletto, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Micaletto put the icing on Tormenta’s victory against Greenville by scoring a penalty kick, which he won himself following a fantastic bit of skill. He led all players in the match in both duels won (nine) and fouls drawn (seven).
M – Jayden Nelson, Toronto FC II: Nelson was excellent in both of TFC II’s games against Fort Lauderdale last week, scoring the team’s second equalizer last Wednesday. Across the two contests, he completed 79 of his 86 pass attempts, won 14 duels, and tallied five successful dribbles.
F – Juan Galindrez, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Galindrez continues to lay claim to “Super Sub” moniker. All four of his goals this season have come in substitute appearances, all four have been in the 74th minute or later, and all four have helped earn Red Wolves SC a win.
F – Marios Lomis, Greenville Triumph SC: Lomis’ scorching run in front of goal is showing no signs of stopping. Greenville beat North Carolina FC 2-1 last Wednesday behind a goal and an assist from the Dutchman, and he recorded Triumph SC’s lone goal in its loss to Tormenta as well.
F – Mark Hernandez, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Like his teammate Galindrez, Hernandez made a massive impact as a second-half substitute in Chattanooga’s comeback win over North Carolina. He assisted Galindrez for the equalizer, then scored what would prove to be the game-winner in stoppage time.

TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One announced on Monday the Team of the Week Presented by Cleer Audio for Week 10 of the 2021 regular season, with Union Omaha forward Greg Hurst named Player of the Week after scoring a hat trick in his side’s 4-2 win against the New England Revolution II on Saturday.
Hurst tallied Omaha’s first three goals of the game, completing his hat trick in the 47th minute. For the team’s opener, the Scotsman won the ball with a bit of smart pressing and rounded the goalkeeper before finishing from a tight angle. Hurst then scored just before and just after halftime to spur his side to victory. The first hat trick of the 2021 League One season moves Hurst level with Greenville’s Marios Lomis atop the Golden Boot race.
South Georgia Tormenta FC’s pair of 1-0 victories against Toronto FC II sees it lead all clubs with four players represented in Week 10’s Team of the Week.
GK – Pablo Jara, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Jara recorded two shutouts, one of which was a five-save performance in midweek. The Tormenta captain has now gone 278 minutes of League One play without allowing a goal.
D – Nkosi Tafari, North Texas SC: Tafari was a driving force behind North Texas’ dominant 3-0 win over Greenville Triumph SC on Sunday. The defender scored his team’s third goal and contributed to the shutout effort with five clearances while winning three duels.
D – Curtis Thorn, South Georgia Tormenta FC: In Tormenta’s first win of the week, Thorn assisted Marco Micaletto’s dramatic game-winning goal. In the team’s second win, Thorn passed at a 91 percent success rate while winning four duels and recording two tackles.
D – Jonathan Ricketts, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Ricketts powered in a header for the second goal in Chattanooga’s 3-2 win against Tucson. He also won five duels and made eight recoveries.
M – Kobe Perez, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Perez put in a wonderful display during Tormenta’s win against Toronto on Sunday. He scored the game’s only goal in some style, won eight duels, completed three successful dribbles, made two tackles, and created two chances while passing at a 95 percent success rate.
M – Devin Boyce, Union Omaha: Boyce recorded a goal and an assist in Omaha’s win against New England, and created four chances in total for his side while completing two tackles.
M – Marco Micaletto, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Tormenta’s talisman came through for them in a big moment, making a run late in a game played in high Florida heat to score an 88th-minute winner against Toronto last Wednesday night.
M – Charlie Dennis, FC Tucson: Though Tucson fell to Chattanooga on Saturday, Dennis made a huge impact as a second-half substitute. The English midfielder came off the bench and scored two terrific goals, both with his left foot from outside the penalty area.
F – Greg Hurst, Union Omaha: Hurst’s dominant hat trick performance showed why he’s one of the top strikers in League One, with a trio of high-quality goals that displayed his diverse skill set.
F – Ricky Ruiz, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Ruiz was simply brilliant for Chattanooga on Saturday night. The young forward scored his side’s opening goal and assisted its other two, while also creating a game-high eight chances and winning 9 of 12 duels.
F – Kalil ElMedkhar, North Texas SC: ElMedkhar’s goal in the 28th minute was an absolute beauty, as he cut inside on his right foot and unleashed a curling finish from outside the box which nestled in the top corner. He won five duels and passed at an 81 percent success rate to help North Texas in its 3-0 win against Greenville.
PAPILLION, Neb. – There’s something special about Saturday night soccer at Werner Park – Union Omaha’s supporters had missed out on the pageantry for six weeks too long.
The record crowd of 3,677 fans made up for lost time and then some as they cheered Union Omaha to a 4-2 triumph over New England Revolution II.
Though team performances haven’t dipped, Evan Conway’s recent injury absence has left a goalscoring void in the Owls attack.
Greg Hurst, last season’s second-top goalscorer in USL League One, stepped up in resounding fashion with three of the team’s four goals. Midfielder Devin Boyce was deployed as a forward and tipped his cap to Head Coach Jay Mims’ decision by scoring the remaining goal and providing an assist.
The win was an important one, keeping the energy and momentum that was built up during a successful string of away matches.
Los Buhos’ fifth win in eight thus far kept them atop USL League One for the second week running.
“Proud of our guys, proud of our team to be on the road that long and come back here… I was worried that we wouldn’t have the physical ability and the energy to get up for it,” said Coach Mims. “But thank you, fans, for being here and getting us going because it was an awesome performance.”
Mims also spoke about asking forward Greg Hurst to play as an out-and-out striker, something he hadn’t done much last season with Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.
“You can’t put a price on the confidence you get from scoring goals,” said Hurst. “My confidence is getting better and better, along with the team’s confidence. We’ll hopefully just keep improving from here.”
Hurst’s first goal was a heads-up play that took some strength to execute. After a hard tackle to win the ball off of the Revolution II goalkeeper, the forward got to his feet, collected himself and poked a shot into the net from an acute angle.
His second was a classic case of right place, right time – after all, you’ve got to be there to score the goal. Hurst was in a prime position after defender Damia Viader’s shot rebounded back from the keeper’s outstretched hands and fell to him for an easy tap-in.
The hat-trick clincher came after a stunning bit of build-up play with fellow forward Devin Boyce. After Boyce won the ball in the opposing half, the pair played a pinpoint one-two between them to set Hurst up for a shot. The Owls’ number nine passed the ball around the diving New England goalkeeper to make it 3-1.
Throughout the match, Revolution II refused to die easily. Midfielder Connor Presley volleyed home an immediate reply to Union Omaha’s opening goal in the first half. The team’s second goal came in the 63rd minute as Michael Tsicoulias struck one past Owls goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu.
New England’s effort wasn’t quite enough as they fell to 2-4-1 on the season, suffering their first loss in two matchweeks.
Saturday night marked the first time Union Omaha scored more than two goals during the 2021 campaign. The feat didn’t go unnoticed by Coach Mims:
“We were on the front foot from the first whistle – us scoring four goals in front of the fans was awesome. Just awesome.”
Up next for the Owls is a trip to Virginia and a date with Richmond Kickers, currently sixth in USL League One. The match – next Saturday, June 19 at 5:30 p.m. CT – will be another important stepping stone toward the Omaha squad’s lofty ambitions this season.
