It’s all or nothing now. Union Omaha goes into playoffs as the second seed, with a third title just three wins away. To do so, they’ll have to take out a Chattanooga Red Wolves SC club that are always going to play physical and compact football. The winner of this match will square off against either AC Boise or One Knoxville SC, who play on Sunday. If Omaha wins, we’ll be right back here at Morrison Stadium the following weekend.
Both teams are slightly out of form going into this match, garnering a point each in their past three matches. The playoffs are a different beast altogether though, and there will have to be a winner on the night. Union Omaha will be heartened by sweeping the season series against Chattanooga, but anything can happen. One thing is for sure though: the Owls won’t go down without a fight. Each of their three playoff losses required extra time, with two of them going to penalty shootouts.
Here’s what to know going into this quarterfinals match:
- This is the second time these clubs have met in the USL League One playoffs; in 2022, Chattanooga hosted the Owls and came away 1-0 victors after extra time. Two players apiece remain from the squads in that matchup: Rashid Nuhu & Ryen Jiba for Omaha, and Aaron Lombardi & Ualefi for Chattanooga.
- The Red Wolves would go on to lose out in the final to a Tormenta side featuring Gabriel Cabral and Adrian Billhardt.
- As always in this fixture, both teams will likely be able to play to their strengths, with Omaha spending most of the match looking to break down the Red Wolves’ backline. The Owls have had 67% or more possession in both prior matchups in 2026.
- Whoever scores first will still have quite a task ahead of them to see it out. Union Omaha has come back to earn a result in 8 of 16 matches in which they’ve fallen behind, winning 5 of them. Chattanooga have come back in 6 of 19, with their 12 points from behind slotting them 4th in the league.
Union Omaha vs. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC kicks off at 6:00pm central on Friday, October 30th. You can stream the match on ESPN+ here. Tickets are also still available at this link.
