TAMPA, Fla. – USL League One today announced that Union Omaha’s Dominic Casciato has been named the League One Coach of the Month for August. The first-year head coach’s recognition is the third such honor for Union Omaha, and it’s Casciato’s first Coach of the Month honor.
The Owls were a perfect 5-0-0 in August, earning a month-high 15 points and were the only team to finish the month undefeated. Omaha’s five goals conceded were tied for the fewest on the month and their goal differential (+7) was the best in the league.
Victories against Northern Colorado, Greenville and Knoxville, among others, propelled the Owls from sixth place to second – the biggest jump up the table on the month. Omaha’s five wins were tied for the most in a single month in league history (NTX, Oct. 2020), while its 15 points won were one shy of matching a league record for most in a single month (NTX, Oct. 2020).
“Individual accolades like this are a result of the good work being done by our staff on a daily basis, so I’d like to give Ladule, Kevin, Beto, Wes, Justin and Kayla a special mention for all of their hard work so far,” Casciato said. “I’d also like to thank the players for all of their hard work. Since the first day of preseason, they’ve been magnificent, and I’m glad our recent results have rewarded them for their commitment to our ideas and our way of playing and working.
“Many people outside our locker room will speak about our winning streak; however, everyone inside it is fully focused on getting a result in Chattanooga on Saturday night, and nothing else. Collectively, we all know there’s much more to come from this group as we enter the business end of the season, so we look forward to continuing to improve while working together each day to achieve our goals.”
Casciato was selected as League One’s Coach of the Month by the USL League One Technical Committee.
