Pride month begins on June 1 each year, but our commitment to inclusivity extends beyond this important yet limited period. We’re proud to engage in a number of powerful initiatives year-round that will help us continue to support the LGBTQIA+ community in meaningful ways, now and in the future:
As one of eight North-American clubs participating in the Common Goal Play Proud project, we’ve begun 100 hours of education and organizational improvement, as well as financing the completion of 100 additional learning hours by our dedicated supporters group rep, Hunter Fangmeyer.
Football for the World, our Play Proud-affiliated nonprofit and local partner since day one, will feature in our team talks series this month. Joe Marinkovich, director of programming, will tell his story as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community in Omaha and a Division I college soccer player.
We’re proud to contribute team-signed merchandise to auctions benefitting You Can Play project. This is the continuation of a multi-year partnership that has also included valuable LGBTQIA+ education and training sessions for all members of our front office staff.
Our June 24 pride celebration match will see the debut of our new pride third jersey, to be worn by our squad against South Georgia Tormenta, as well as in future matches this season. This embodies our commitment to wider LGBTQIA+ support well after our dedicated pride night ends.
