2019 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year joins 2022 campaign
PAPILLION, Neb. (March 8, 2022) – Union Omaha announced today the addition of center-back Alex Touche, pending league and federation approval. Touche brings experience at the collegiate, USL League Two, and USL Championship levels to Union Omaha. He most recently played for USL Championship club New Mexico United after spending three seasons with the USL League Two member Albuquerque Sol.
Touche, the 2019 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, earned numerous accolades over the course of his collegiate career at the University of Pennsylvania. He was named First-team All-Ivy League in 2018 and 2019 and Second-team All-Ivy in 2017, while also collecting All-Northeast Region and All-Eastern College Athletic Conference honors in 2019. In his time with the Quakers, he chalked up a total of eight goals and 14 shutouts.
“Alex is a tough, hard-working, honest player who has fit in extremely well with our group,” said Union Omaha head coach Jay Mims. “He will be an important part of our defending group as he defends with purpose and can pass out of the back.”
“I am incredibly excited to get started here in Omaha,” said Touche. “The club has a well-established winning culture and I look forward to building on everything the players and coaches accomplished last year.”
