FORMER CREIGHTON STANDOUT AND 2021 WAC TOURNAMENT MVP JOIN LOS BUHOS
PAPILLION, Neb. (February 1, 2022) – Union Omaha announced today the signing of two players for the 2022 championship defending season, pending league and federation approval. Both additions add to a growing number of roster moves that are rounding out the roster for the 2022 campaign.
Dion Acoff, a two-time Icelandic Champion midfielder and former member of the Creighton University soccer team, began his professional career in 2015 with Knattspyrnufélagið Þróttur in Iceland. The Upland, Calf. native appeared in 40 matches and scored nine goals in his inaugural professional season. With career appearances in both Champions League and Europa League Qualifying matches, Acoff brings quality international experience to the Union Omaha team and is reunited with college teammate Conor Doyle.
“I have known Dion since he was in high school and have always enjoyed watching him play,” said Union Omaha Head Coach Jay Mims. “He brings plenty of experience by playing in 1st divisions in Europe over the last several years and I am excited to reconnect with him over the next few years.”
“I am really looking forward to being back in the states and playing in Omaha again,” said Acoff. “I am excited to be a part of this organization and the community. Omaha is where it started for me back in college so to come back and play here is something special.”
